January 1 2011 - Happy New Year Everyone!

It has been an incredible year of music!  We want to thank everyone who supported our events throughout the year!  We have heard nothing but great things about the 2nd annual festival, lets keep this (Rockin’ &) rolling!

The festival team has been hard at work since we closed the gates, and plans have been underway for months to put together this summers’ festival.  The dates have been set for July 15, 16, & 17, (3rd weekend in July) at the beautiful Frankford Tourist Park, at Lock 6 of the Trent Severn River.

Many of your favorite presenters and workshop hosts will be returning this year, with a few surprises in store as well!  Our workshop program was a huge success last year, and well worth repeating, however new ideas and proposals are always welcome.  Those interested in artist submissions or workshop proposals should contact me directly at festival@loyalblues.ca.

I would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers, members, musicians, and associates for all of their support throughout 2010, with out all of you; this festival would not be possible!  I look forward to working with you all again on our 3rd annual.  In the meantime, have a very safe and happy holiday season, and my 2011 make all of your dreams come true.  See you in July!

July 2010 Update: Wow, What a Weekend!   I don’t know where to start in thanking you all for making this year’s festival a most incredible event!  The Performers, the Audience, the Volunteers; you all made the festival the success it was, and we could not have done it without all of you!

The volunteers started to roll in on the Wednesday before to help with the set up, with Thursday being a big day, and a hot and sticky one too boot!    With everything up and running, the gates opened at noon on Friday, with the opening ceremonies starting up about 2:30 with Councilor Keith Reid and MPP Lou Rinaldi joining in the festivities.  What a great afternoon and evening of entertainment!  Everyone was having such a good time we carried on till the wee hours around the campfire!  What a Jam it was!

We picked things back up again on Saturday, and once again the rain tried to dampen our spirits, but Erin McCallum’s streak prevailed as she chased the rain away for us with her mind-blowing set!  Erin certainly came away with many new fans after that performance!  Finishing off the day was the ever popular and so smooth, Jack DeKeyzer Band who kept the dance floor hopping with every number they performed!  Once again the party continued around the campfire till the morning light chased the last of the music makers to bed for a few hours of shut-eye.

Sunday was a great day in the park!  We opened with Bim Ingersoll and friends with their death defying blues jam, followed by some entertaining spoken word from Charly Chiarelli, followed by Georgette Fry’s main stage workshop on Harmonies where she had the entire audience singing beautiful music together as a warm-up for the ever popular Shout Sister Choir!  Next we featured local hero’s Campbell, Latimer, Wills, and Acerra, with some down home electric blues, warming up the crowd for the Georgette Fry Band, and finishing up the event with the heartfelt R&B sounds from the Ila Vann Band!

We Thank each and every one of you for making this year’s festival a big success!  We are already counting the days until the next one………
